::..Reviewed for Red's Midnight Readers..::

I was kindly provided with an ARC by the author and I have given it 4 stars.

A story about zombies is an instant winner in my eyes!!

I thought it would a run of the mill Zombie book but I was wrong. Think The walking Dead meets Z Nation.

Into the Darkness has a good plot with a few interesting ideas, the opening to the book really hooks you in and draws you right into the action. It's less about the biters and more about six people's fight for survival in a world drastically changed when an unknown virus breaks out and brings the dead back to life. Phoenix and her fellow survivors face a tough fight if they want to fight not only against the biters but also against the "degenerates", people who were freed from prisons, in order to use the space to try and contain the virus.

There a few enjoyable characters and few less than enjoyable. The story itself is pretty good, with a few plot twists to keep things interesting. It's fast paced but therein lies the issue for me. I felt it wasn't very detailed, lacking any meat to the actual story itself. I would have preferred something a little more indepth and some parts felt a little rushed.

Overall though I really enjoyed it and I am always intrigued to see which direction these zombie stories take, so I will definitely be picking up the next book.

Be warned though, this book ends on a cliffhanger and I can not wait to see what happens.

Blurb
It was supposed to be a way to end the devastation in the Middle East, but instead a darkness has been unleashed unlike anything the world has ever seen.

Ike Glass is well versed in chaos, but even he is unprepared for what the world will become after the outbreak. Ace Cullen has been loyal to his country ever since he was brought to the United States as a young boy, but it’s difficult to stand by a country that can’t even take responsibility for their own actions. Phoenix Blue just wants a night of mindless sex…is that too much to ask? Always a black sheep, she shocks everyone as she finds the strength inside herself to protect the ones she cares about and fight to see another day. They were strangers when the virus took over, but tragedy will bring them together in ways they never thought possible as they descend into the darkness.
